DESCRIPTION:
WW - Rolex Oyster Chronometer "Viceroy," retailed by Dobbies Ltd of Nairobi, circa 1938, ref 3359, manual wind, 29mm x 38mm to lug tips, 16mm lug width, original stainless steel Oyster case with chamfered lugs and case as well as an engine turned gold bezel, stainless steel bamboo bracelet with Rolex signed clasp, the bracelet appears to have been added to clasp, fabulous tropical dial with burlwood look and black painted Arabic numerals, 18J, s#44175, triple signed, inside back ref 3359. If ever a watch could tell you its life story one would bet this watch would have quite a rich and long one.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, very light oxide to steelwork, light discoloration and fine scratches to plates; excellent-plus tropical dial with even brown discoloration as well as ample spotting; blued steel hands show ample oxide; polished case shows very light wear, crisp lug and case chamfers, several light dings on bezel and case; original signed crown shows very little wear, good threads; good crystal.
